Father’s Day is right around the corner and Dad doesn’t need another necktie again this year. What Dad REALLY wants is CANDY, so let’s package it up with some humor and show him we LOVE him!
This Father’s Day gift is quick and easy to make with the kiddos. Change up the message to include Grandpas, Uncles and Brothers!
Father’s Day Treat Jar
Materials:
KOOL TAK™ – Ultra Clear – 1/4″ x 16 yards
KOOL TAK™ – 3D Foam – 3/16″ x 1/16″ thick x 1.6 yards – CLEAR
Wide Mouth Mason Jar (or other recycled jar)
Reese’s Pieces Candy
1 1/2″ wide grey, white and green plaid ribbon (for Tie) – 16″ length
5/8″ wide green ribbon (for Trim) – two lengths, the circumference of your jar (mine was 8″)
White Cardstock – (for neck band) – the width by the circumference of your jar lid (mine was 5/8″ by 8″ AND a circle the size of your jar lid
Brads – Screw Head style – 8
Pencil and permanent marker green (or to match your color scheme).
Tools:
Teflon Coated Scissors, Ruler and Wire Cutters
Instructions:
Measure and cut white cardstock to 5/8″ wide by 8″ long. Attach Kool Tak™ Ultra Clear to length of cardstock, peel back red release paper and adhere to rim of jar lid. Trace jar lid on white cardstock and cut out.
Write the words “DAD, LOVE YOU TO PIECES!”, set aside.
Measure and cut two 8″ lengths of green ribbon, attach Kool Tak™ Ultra Clear to back of ribbon, peel back red release paper and adhere to jar 1″ from top and 1″ from bottom of jar.
Tie a loose knot at one end of the grey plaid ribbon to resemble a necktie.
Attach three 1/2″ lengths of Kool Tak™ Ultra Clear to back of ribbon end, peel back red release paper and adhere to back of knot.
Fold other end of grey plaid ribbon in a point, score with fingernail. Attach Kool Tak™ Ultra Clear to back of ribbon, peel back red release paper and re-fold in a point to resemble a necktie.
Attach Kool Tak™ Ultra Clear to back of knot, peel back red release paper and attach to rim of jar lid. Snip the prongs from 8 metal screw head style brads. Cut Kool Tak™ 3D Foam in eight, 1/8″ lengths and attach to back of brad heads. Adhere brad heads to ribbon, using photo as guide.
Fill jar with Reese’s Pieces, assemble lid and secure tightly.
KOOL TAK TIPS:
- To easily start a double sided adhesive tape such as Kool Tak™ Ultra Clear, fold over a corner of the tape on to itself. Peel back the release paper to create a tab.
- Kool Tak™ Ultra Clear is a high tack double sided adhesive that is flexible and easily wraps around any circular surface.
- Use Teflon Coated Scissors to easily cut through adhesives such as Kool Tak™ Ultra Clear tape.
- Use Kool Tak™ 3D Foam Clear Roll to attach any size embellishment virtually invisibly to your project.
- Kool Tak™ 3D Foam Clear Roll can be cut to any size, is a double sided adhesive that has a high tack.
