Ribbon & Foil Angel Tree Topper

I love the tradition of making and giving special gifts to my family and friends at Christmastime.  My Mom just adores Angels, so I create a new and special hand crafted Angel for her each year.  This year I have designed a tree topper Angel.  I hope she likes it!

Paper Mache cone – 8″

Scissors, pencil, ruler, ribbon scraps – white and ivory (approximately 36 pieces 2″ long), iridescent chenille stem, paint brush, plain paper, sheet of transparency plastic, lace trim – 6″, black marker,

Instructions:
1.) Cut tip from top of paper Mache cone.  Paint foam ball and paper Mache cone light buttermilk, let dry.  Apply premium extreme 1″ wide to entire surface of cone, one strip at a time, removing liner paper as you go.

2.) Create ribbon loops, by folding in half and apply to bottom edge of cone.  Continue layering ribbon loops until the cone is covered.  Apply premium extreme 1/8″ wide to backside of lace trim, remove liner paper and pleat around top of cone.  Adhere foam ball head to cone body with 3D Glue, let dry.

3.) Draw wings on plain paper, trace on to transparency with black marker and cut out.  Apply 3D Glue around edges and create feather pattern on wings.  Let dry until completely clear.

4.) Apply shiny foil transfer sheet in gold by placing dull silver side down and shiny colored side up.  Rub gently with finger
then pull up to release foil.  Continue applying foil until all glue is covered.  Keep the shiny foil transfer sheet because every last bit of foil can be used!

5.) Gently fold wings in half, very slightly and attach to back of cone with 3D Glue, let dry.  Create a 2″ circle from chenille stem, twist to secure and trim end with scissors.  Attach to Angel’s head with 3D Glue, let dry.
